In most households the popular choice of flooring would be that of wood, offering a classic look. However, if you cannot accommodate authentic wood based flooring you always have the choice of laminated wood its synthetic replica. Moreover, if offers a more durable base which is easier to clean and can withstand moisture to a great extent. The choice of flooring is affected both by budget and on the labour involved. In most households the flooring is usually laid down by the individuals rather than employ someone else to do it. In such a case vinyl flooring is the best choice, for it can be laid down with a proper industrial adhesive and a relatively minimal effort.
The Factors Involved
Other than vinyl there are choices that require a little more effort and a larger budget. This list includes tiles, marbles and granites. In tiles you have the choice between a glossy finish and a satin finish, both of which requires careful placement of the tiles, for even small gaps could cause cracks thereby marring the entire décor. However, when laid down with proper care and effort they last for a long time, given there is proper maintenance. A similar choice would be that of marble flooring, which might take a little longer to be laid down but also lasts longer when compared to tiles. Granite flooring would be the intermediate in terms of duration it takes to lay down and the years it lasts. |
The "Where" Factor
While each type of flooring has its individual advantages it is important that you choose a proper type for the proper room. The vinyl or pvc flooring is best suited for your kitchen or the child's room as it is water-resistant and is not as slippery as tiles or marbles. Besides it can be easily replaced in case of damage, which is a rarity. With wood, your stairs and bedrooms are the best places, for they keep your rooms in a temperature that varies based on what prevails outside your house in a manner that make your house cosy. Marble flooring is suitable for places where there isn't a frequent chance of liquid spills, for it makes the floor very slippery and might prove dangerous. However, like granite marble too is very durable. Granite shares the durability factor with marble, but stands out in the fact that it is resistant to oil spillsand its likes offering yet another good choice for your kitchen floors. However, the polished ones are slippery and might not be the best choice for your bathrooms or your kitchens. Thus choose your flooring material with care to all these factors. |
